DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE RECEIVES APPROVAL

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin officials announced today that its new Doctor of Nursing Practice degree has been approved by the Higher Learning Commission.  Concordia has offered a popular undergraduate Nursing degree since 1982 and a graduate Nursing degree since 1994.

 

According to Dr. Ruth Gresley, dean of Health Services for Concordia University Wisconsin, “The University is proud to be offering this new degree to meet the changing and complex needs of the healthcare environment today. We have a solid track record with preparing students for the field of nursing and we are excited to be able to move forward with more options for higher education degrees for students interested in the healthcare industry.”

 

Dr. Teri Kaul, director of Graduate Programs in Nursing for Concordia, stated, “ the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree offered at Concordia will offer advanced practice nurses with skills and knowledge to provide safe, high quality, cost effective, coordinated, and comprehensive clinical care grounded in evidence-based practice. Graduates will also be well prepared to act as change agents exemplifying ethical leadership principles necessary for the changing healthcare system.”

This is the second doctoral program that Concordia has received approval for in recent years. The University has been offering a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree since 2001.  Concordia is also in the process of creating a School of Pharmacy.
