RAMS, CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY WISCONSIN ANNOUNCE SUMMER TRAINING SITE ST. LOUIS—The St. Louis Rams and Concordia University Wisconsin announced today that the Rams would move their 2008 summer training camp to the campus of the institution, located in Mequon, Wisconsin, minutes north of Milwaukee located on Lake Michigan.
The Rams will report to camp July 24 and conduct their first practice on July 25. Camp will conclude on Aug. 14.
John Oswald, Rams Vice President of Operations said, “Head coach Scott Linehan and his staff were looking for a site that offered ideal living environment, practice conditions, and adequate facilities, plus a venue that was away from our home base. Concordia University Wisconsin fulfilled all of those objectives.”
Head coach Scott Linehan said, “There’s something about working together in one place, away from the distraction of home (the Rams trained at their permanent facility in Earth City, Mo., in 2005-06). There also is the anticipation of breaking camp and starting the season when you come back. We have in Concordia University Wisconsin a traditional college site with the kind of atmosphere and surroundings needed to prepare for the regular season.”
Concordia President Dr. Patrick T. Ferry add, “We are very pleased that the St. Louis Rams have selected Concordia University Wisconsin for this summer’s preseason training camp. Our state-of-the-art athletic training facility in Mequon is the ideal environment to provide a successful camp for the players and coaches. We are looking forward to having them on our campus and working closely with their coaching staff to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.”
Concordia University Wisconsin is approximately 395 miles northeast of the Rams’ Russell Training Center. Founded in 1881, Concordia University Wisconsin's main campus is located on approximately 200 acres on Lake Michigan at 12800 N. Lake Shore in Mequon.
